Cravings

Dear Zoe,

I knew I was pregnant with you right away. I was at the gym one morning and felt very nauseous and it didn't stop for weeks (okay, months really). The best way to describe it is a really bad hangover. WHICH, I don't expect you to understand until you are 35!! All I wanted was greasy bar food like burgers and fries and tator tots. Which was odd, considering I have been a vegetartian for the past 3-4 years!

Soon I realized that these were cravings, and I figured if baby wants a burger, that is what she is going to get (although at the time I thought you were a little boy since all you wanted to eat was bar food, sorry, princess).

In addition to burgers and fries, I could NOT get enough lemonade! Plain water kind of grossed me out for a while because everything tasted like pennies, but yum, I have probably consumed 100 gallons of lemonade over the past 6 months...and I am still not sick of it!

Finally...FRUIT!! I have been pretty grossed out by veggies for the past 6 months...which again, strange for a vegetarian, but lately, I have been craving watermelon! Not quite a veggie, but a fruit, so a step in the right direction. A couple of Fridays ago, I stopped at the store on the way home and bought a whole watermelon that was GONE by Sunday...all in the mama's tummy.

I started to get a little nervous when I read that at about 22 weeks or so, you were forming taste buds and getting a taste (and forming preferences of your own) of what I was eating...so I am really trying to eat more veggies and fruit and healthy snacks so you won't come out wanting to go to the bar and grab a burger...although daddy would love that!!

Shoes!

So, I just finished registering for baby Zoe. It is quite overwhelming and I have been reading a lot about what I do not really need - bottle warmer, wipes warmer, and baby shoes. Um, excuse me, baby shoes?! But they are SO cute!

Yes, okay, I agree, probably not the most practical purchase out there...but I have never been known as the most practical girl out there. And these are just too stinkin cute!!

Little Girl Accessories!!

I must admit, I am a SUCKER for accessories. I truly believe that a cute necklace or a headband can turn a boring black dress into a super cute outfit.

Now that I know that we are having a baby girl, I can turn all of my accessory energy into little gender specific (read: PINK!) things for my little Zoe....check this out-

I am completely obsessed with oversized pink flowers on a headband for little girls. How cute is that? Maybe it is because when I was a tot, I had no hair until I was two and my mom, given no other choice at the time, had to scotch tape bows on my head to accessorize. Either way, I think it is adorable! And legwarmers?! What the what! I am a child of the 80s and I am bringing these back, so cute!!

23 week ultrasound, take 2

Dear Zoe -

There you are!! We had your second ultrasound this morning to get more pictures of your heart and the technician took a 3D image of you. The first time your daddy and I got to see what you really look like....and you are beautiful! I think you look a lot like your daddy. You were very cooperative this time around and let the nice lady take lots of pictures of you. Thank you for that. :) You also weigh in at 1 lb 2 oz! We just can't wait to meet you.

Love,

the mama

Sweet Benny

Dear Zoe,
This is your big brother Benny, my first baby. He is the sweetest puppy. He loves to cuddle and to be chased around the table. His favorite toys are his monkey (destroyed), his frisbee (getting there...) and his kong. I am sure that he will show them all to you when you arrive.
We know you will love Benny as much as your daddy and I do. We are going to be such a happy little family. He will most likely want to kiss you a lot like he does with the mama. He is such a good boy. Someday, when you are old enough, we can all play with him in the park or the beach (his favorite). Until then, you and I will continue to take Benny out on walks.
Until October...

To blog or not to blog...

Halfway done with the pregnancy. I have been trying to keep a journal, but honestly, after working all day and driving home, the last thing I want to do is write. My hands hurt and I can't think of anything I want to say.

So, instead, I decided to start a blog. To remind me of stories to tell Zoe one day. To track the thoughts I have of my little girl that I don't know. And someday (after she is born) to share with my family and friends who don't get to see her everyday. Until then, this will be my own personal journal. I will try and steal moments to document the next 16 (eek, only 16!!) or so weeks until she is here.

Dear Zoe,
This is your daddy and me. Sorry about that face, but I do that often in photos to look sassy. Isn't your daddy cute? He has the best smile. I can't wait to see who you look like. Will you have curly hair like your daddy or brown hair like me? Will you have light skin like your daddy or medium like me? Will your eyes be blue? All these things and more I can't wait to learn.

the mama

23 Weeks!

Dear Zoe,

You are 23 weeks cooked! Your daddy and I got to see you on an ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and you are beautiful. You are a bit stubborn though, I am going back again tomorrow to see you and hope you roll over so we can take more pictures of your heart.

This weekend was your Aunt Jenny's bachelorette party. You and I had a great time and you stayed out with me dancing until 2 in the morning. You love to dance just like your mama.

Can't wait to meet you!
xoxo.
